HR Alliance Leadership Message about Twitter

HR Leadership, Julia Medvin, President, and Friderike Butler, President Elect, share the Board's decision about Twitter.

Dear HR Alliance Members and Friends,

For over sixty years, HR Alliance has focused on delivering on our commitment to serving the needs of HR practitioners and business leaders working in the Washington DC metropolitan area, and we have done so across a wide range of industries and organization sizes, in the private and the public sector. Over the last several years, we have continued to invest in programming that serves our members and positively shapes the evolving future of our workplaces. Collectively our goal is to initiate dialog and collaboration as a community of business leaders.

As such, discrimination and disrespectful treatment of any individuals or groups of people, and the stoking of mistrust and fear, has no place in our organization. We are proud to share with you that the Board of HR Alliance unanimously voted to close our Twitter account and take a united stand against the unchecked publication of hate speech and intentional misinformation.  We will continue to support free speech and open dialogue across different perspectives, and we are committed to reflect that in our future programs and throughout our organization.

We proudly stand by our aspirational statement - We come together to evolve Human Capital practices in order to effectively serve today's organizational and social needs and to creatively shape the future of our workplaces and to benefit all people.

Sincerely,

Julia Medvin
President, HR Alliance Board

Friderike Butler
President Elect, HR Alliance Board
