Manager, Training and Development
WashREIT is a publicly traded company transitioning from a diversified REIT into a pure multifamily REIT and expanding from the DC metropolitan area into Southeastern markets.   We’re growing for sure!
We are transitioning the management of our properties in-house, which means we will be onboarding several hundred employees in the next six to twelve months.  To support this transition, we have created a new position for a Manager of Training and Development to develop our onboarding and training programs.  In partnership with leadership, this individual will identify and prioritize learning needs for the organization to support our goal of developing and promoting from within and providing rewarding and enriching careers.
You are a good fit if you have had progressively more responsible roles in multifamily property management, including site and regional management experience, have a strong foundational knowledge of multifamily management practices and have a fundamental appreciation for outstanding customer service.
In this role, you will be working a flexible 3/2 (office/remote) hybrid schedule.
  • Create a comprehensive onboarding and orientation program, to include pre-hire, orientation and ongoing onboarding initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to develop an organization-wide training program, using both internal and external subject matter experts, including in-person and web-based seminars, creation of training materials, facilitation of group training sessions and development of training videos and content.
  • Partner with HR team to implement a learning management system (LMS), including developing curriculum, career paths and creating content.
  • Partner with property management division to develop a comprehensive training program for property management operations, including the implementations and operational training of Yardi, our newly implemented enterprise software.
  • Develop career path training plans, partner with managers for developmental training and coaching and create individualized training plans for emerging leaders.
  • Publish training content on company intranet The Hub, to include updates on training content, courses and calendars, to ensure employees have up-to-date knowledge.
  • Partner with leadership team to develop, organize and deliver company-wide training and development events.
  • Develop and implement a program to obtain feedback from employees regarding overall training and development program, as well as individual courses; assemble feedback to present to leadership along with recommendations for improvement.
  • Incorporate the company’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) principals in to all aspects of training and development.
  • Manage corporate training budget, in partnership with VP, Human Resources, and provide reporting on return on investment.
  • Assist in development and management of an internship program for property management and corporate departments.
  • Research and stay current on industry training trends; create and leverage connections within industry to stay abreast on best practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, communications or related field.
  • Progressively more responsible experience implementing training programs and delivering training solutions, with experience in property management industry a HUGE plus.
  • Familiarity and experience with learning and development programs, determining training objectives and needs and implementing learning and development programs.
  • Prior experience managing a learning management system (LMS), and implementation experience a strong plus.
  • Previous experience and proven ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs, especially virtual, covering a wide range of topics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational management skills, including strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Proven experience developing and delivering training content on a variety of topics.
  • Ability to lead, and partner, with managers across the organization to implement training programs.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to champion through daily interactions. 
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including development of presentation materials.
  • Ability to travel locally to conduct training, including valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
