Part I - Overview of HR Alliance DC 2020 Compensation Survey

Description:
This part of the program will provide an overview of the results of the HR Alliance DC 2020 Compensation Survey Report.

Speakers: Andrew Guigno and Todd Carter

Andrew Guigno is a Survey Project Manager in the Boston office. Andrew joined the survey team at Pearl Meyer at the start of 2014. In this role, Andrew manages client accounts as well as assists in the survey process.

Andrew brings to Pearl Meyer over 15 years of client service, training and human resources experience earned while working at Shaw’s Supermarkets.

Andrew received a BS in Communications and Journalism from Suffolk University and holds an MA in Human Resource Management from Framingham State University, where he a visiting member of the faculty.

Todd Carter is an Associate Account Manager in the Boston office. Todd joined the survey team at Pearl Meyer in October of 2019. In this role, Todd manages client accounts as well as assists in the survey process.

Todd earned a BS in Business Management from Framingham State University, is an Eagle Scout, and brings to Pearl Meyer project management experience from the video production industry.

Part II - Pay Equality Issues in Corporate America

Description:
Laws around pay equality are not new, nor is the public debate. However, there is clearly a groundswell of renewed interest and energy around the topic that is growing in intensity. It is highly emotional with significant legal and talent management implications at all levels within an organization.

Presenters will provide an overview of key issues associated with pay equality, including ensuring a common understanding of basic terms and definitions. The discussion will include steps employers can to take to determine if compensation for their employees is equitable, as well as steps that can be taken to address potential issues.

Speakers: Jim Hudner and Beth Florin

Jim Hudner, a managing director in the Boston office, has consulted for over 30 years on a broad range of compensation issues. He advises clients in total compensation strategy, compensation planning, base salary management, incentive plan design, executive compensation and pay equity analyses. He has expertise in developing integrated compensation programs in support of mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive experience in financial services, technology, higher education, and healthcare.

Prior to joining Pearl Meyer, Mr. Hudner held leadership roles at Watson Wyatt and Towers Perrin. Over his career, Mr. Hudner’s primary focus has been on the assessment, design, implementation, and communication of compensation programs covering broad-based employee populations.

Mr. Hudner earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and an MBA with a concentration in human resources and finance from Babson College in Massachusetts. In addition to being a member of WorldatWork, he is an experienced speaker on a variety of compensation topics and has contributed to several industry publications.

Beth Florin, managing director in the Boston office, leads the Survey and Employee Compensation Practice. She has specialized experience in the design, development, and implementation of broad-based compensation programs and total remuneration compensation surveys.

Ms. Florin was a co-founder of Executive Alliance, a technology industry compensation consultancy that was acquired by Clark Consulting in 2001. Prior to that, Ms. Florin was a Senior Human Resource Consultant with William M. Mercer, Incorporated’s High-Tech Compensation Practice and held human resource positions at Data General Corporation.

Ms. Florin is a graduate of the University of Florida and also holds an M.S. in Human Resource Management and Research Methodology from Cornell University. Ms. Florin is a member of Cornell’s Advisory Council and also serves on the board of the Cornell ILR Alumni Association.
