Welcome and Networking: 8:45 - 9:00 AM
Join us on time so we may welcome you and provide a networking opportunity, through the use of break-out rooms, so you may meet new people!

Program Description:
Our organization's growth. Our critical project. Our mission accomplishment. All of these objectives depend on having the right people in the right jobs at the right time. And getting great people is where Talent Acquisition takes center stage. But if our recruiting function isn't delivering optimal results, it could mean disaster.

The good news is that there are practical, FREE (or at least cost-neutral) ideas you can put into practice right away that will elevate your organization's recruiting game. Brenden will share proven strategies that don't require spending money, the purchase of a shiny new tool, chasing something that sounds good but doesn't work in the real world, or that may be out of reach for what your team can do. We'll explore concepts like " The Rule of 4," "Metrics that Move," and a compelling twist on the term "Engagement," to name a few. These ideas can apply to organizations of any size or type and recruiting teams large and small. The session will be fast-paced, fun, actionable, and perhaps even a little controversial – but that's OK! Big ideas often are. You are sure to learn something new that will help you make Talent Acquisition your organization's competitive advantage.

Speaker: Brenden Wright, Veeco Instruments

Brenden is currently the Head of Global Talent Acquisition and an HR Business Partner for Veeco Instruments. He has over 20 years of experience building and leading recruiting functions for public, not-for-profit, and privately held organizations. His recruiting and selection expertise spans systems, processes, and positions of all functional areas and levels, with a specific focus on corporate officers, executives, and highly specialized scientific and engineering technical contributors across the US, Europe, and J/APAC.

Before beginning his career in executive search and talent acquisition, Brenden served in the United States Marine Corps in the field of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense. Brenden also served on the recruitDC Content Committee, helping to bring highly relevant learning opportunities to the region’s largest recruiting-focused networking group. Brenden has been a guest lecturer for both graduate and undergraduate programs on social media marketing and recruiting strategies at Catholic University, Loyola University Maryland, and The University of Baltimore. He currently serves on the HR Alliance DC Board as the Co-Chair of the Communications Committee and as a member of the Sponsorship Committee.

Brenden enjoys writing, reading (with an overly ambitious goal of 52 books each year), studying Stoic philosophy, road cycling and mountain biking, and spending time with his wife, kids, and three rambunctious dogs.
