Name & Title: Julia Medvin, Director, HR Operations, Venture Global LNG

Brief Job Description: Julia has many years of experience in human resources working both in corporate and consulting roles.  Over the years she has touched many areas of HR both domestic and international and gained extensive subject matter expertise in global strategy, mergers and acquisitions, governance, program design and financial management.  She has extensive experience working with executive teams to drive Human Capital Strategy and collaborating across different corporate functions (e.g. finance, payroll, etc.) and local country teams to execute employee centric programs.  In her current role Julia is responsible for standing up HR operations for an Energy start-up company.  Her primary focus is to design and impellent tools, processes and procedures that help employees be productive at work, be engaged with their teams and drive business to success.

Other Accomplishments/Memberships: Julia maintains a Certificate in Global Benefits Management, a Certificate of achievement in Effective Business Writing Skills and has a Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) designation from the World@Work Society of Professional Development.

Personal Interests: Outside of work Julia enjoys playing tennis, learning tango and spending time with her family outdoors.  Julia is very passionate about mentoring and is always open to new mentoring relationships.  Julia is also fluent in Russian.

Name & Title: Jason A. Salamon is Vice President of Human Resources and Training at Edgewood and Vantage Management.

Brief Job Description: Jason has over 20 years of experience spanning all aspects of the Human Resources field.  After nearly ten years with Hyatt Hotels Corporation and two years with Central Parking Corporation, Jason spent eight years at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he served as Vice President/Director of Human Resources for a Business Unit of 3,500 employees. Jason shifted to the real estate industry in 2013 through a role as Vice President of Human Resources for the Washington, DC division of NY-based REIT Vornado Realty Trust.  Jason joined the executive team of Edgewood/Vantage, a leading residential property management company, in July 2017.

Other Accomplishments/Memberships: Jason is an active member of SHRM and holds the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification.  From HRCI, he holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

Education: Jason has a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the George Washington University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Human Resources Management from American University 

Personal Interests: Jason is active on the Board of Directors for both his synagogue and his children's school.  He is an enthusiastic fan of his kids’ team sports activities, loves movies, and is an avid watcher of Seinfeld reruns, Homeland and Survivor.

Personal Interests: In 2014 while volunteering with Ellicott City Soccer club, developed a Soccer Program for children with Special Needs.  The program started with 7 special players and has grown to 60 special players. Name & Title: Anja Nickel, Financial Services Agent, New York Life Insurance Company

Brief Job Description: Anja Nickel started her Career as a New York Life Financial Services Professional in 2014. Her practice focuses on working closely with individuals, families and businesses to create financial security and protection through comprehensive insurance planning. She works closely with HR professionals to help enhance their company’s existing benefits while minimizing costs. Anja has successfully lead and and conducted benefit enrollments of 600+ employees acting as organizer and liaison across departments. 

Other Accomplishments/memberships: Anja was named Rookie of the Year in the DC office and she has been recognized by the company as a distinguished agent every year since she started. She also qualified as an MDRT member in 2018.  Outside of HR Alliance, Anja is the Vice President of the Georgetown BNI Networking group in DC.  She is also one of two Recruitment Specialists for the Junior League of Northern Virginia. 

Education: Anja received her Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Marketing from Penn State University. She also holds two Minors in Psychology and International Business.

Personal Interests: Anja is a travel junkie and loves experiencing new cultures. In her spare time she volunteers, loves to draw, take photos, and play sand volleyball down by the Lincoln Memorial.

Name & Title: Laurie Price, Senior Manager, Total Rewards, Horizon Therapeutics

Description: Laurie is responsible for the management and execution of Horizon Therapeutic's benefit programs.  Laurie worked for DAI for nearly 10 years.  Laurie’s first job after graduate school was in employee benefits.  For the next 15 years, she worked in HR generalist positions before finding her way back to benefits.

Other Accomplishments/Memberships: Laurie holds the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) credential with Fellowship status as well as a PHR and SHRM-CP certification.   She is a self-described Benefits Geek” and Open Enrollment is her favorite time of year.  She enjoys distilling the complexities of benefit plans into the basics so employees have a solid understanding of their benefits and can maximize coverage for themselves and their families.  

Education: Laurie graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her MA in Organizational Psychology, Columbia University.  

Personal Information & Interests: Laurie is a native New Yorker and has lived in Rockville, MD since 2005.  Outside of work and when not thinking about employee benefits, Laurie is either knitting, baking, doing yoga, listening to live music, or scouting out interesting places for her teenage son to take photographs.

Brief Job Description: Kathleen is a strategic HR executive and has over 25 years of leadership experience in human resources in nonprofit and for-profit organizations.  Skilled in all areas of HR, she specializes in talent management and organizational development.  In her current role at Smart HR, she provides expert HR management and customized HR solutions to organizations based in the DC metro area that have less than 150 employees.  Previously, she was a HR executive for Blumont, a international non-profit NGO, KaBOOM! a DC based non-profit and the American Red Cross.  She worked as a consultant for Korn Ferry and owned her own consulting firm for four years focusing on talent management, learning solutions and performance strategies.  Kathleen has other HR leadership experience in retail, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.

Education: Clay received his bachelor’s degree (with honors) in business administration from the University of Louisville and his master’s in business administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Personal Interests: Clay is an avid mystery/spy novel reader and enjoys all types of music including playing the piano, learning the guitar and choral music.  He is a former member of the Washington Master Chorale.  For the last 18 years Clay has been involved with his children’s swim team serving as a referee.  Now that his children are older he and his wife plan to enjoy a bit of travel with no kids.
